Some Vox'iness comes to TypePad

It's great to see some of the community aspects of Vox are showing up on Six Apart's TypePad Platform. Even better that the new features can be used by non-Six Apart platforms like Blogger etc.

The new comment service has a sleek new interface and great features like threading, easy pagination, optional TypePad/TypeKey or OpenID sign in, optional profiles, email notifications of replies and the ability to reply via email - all with TypePad AntiSpam built in.

It's interesting that my Personal Blog has far fewer subscribers (most arrive through search) but gets a similar number of comment to the CAD Blog. That's mostly thanks to a run of comments on an old 2005 post about the Top Gear Stig!

Am I impatient, or are TV quiz shows annoyingly slow?

Am I impatient?

As I write The Rich List* has been going for about ten minutes and almost nothing has happened. I find 'Who wants to be a Millionaire" equally annoying in that it takes bloody ages for the questions to be asked, even longer for them to be answered.

The question is asked, it's repeated, they agonise over the answer, debate the other options with themselves, get offered alternate strategies, then finally, finally answer. Then the question is repeated again, like I didn't know it already although it is about quarter of an hour since it was asked, before, after yet more "are you sure?" and debate, the answer is finally revealed.

I could understand if a million dollars hung in the balance but this happens all the way through! They agonise on the hundred dollar questions too!

Bring back Mastermind!

I suspect more questions were asked, and answered, in a single episode of Mastermind than are seen in a whole series of these moronic new quiz shows. That's why I stopped watching and wrote this!

Time for a new banner

Auckland from the top of Rangitoto Island (as seen in RobiNZ_Vox_Banner-2008-08-21). It was taken earlier this year, the first time I'd been to the top. Previously had only been on (the shoreline) & around (by boat). It's a bit of a climb (about 260m) but worth the effort.
