An unexpected Autodesk encounter, with myself!

March 2019 - 15th Anniversary!

March 31st means it is blog’iversary time. Fifteen years since that first tentative post! New Zealand is a long way from everywhere and social media eliminates that gap. I really appreciate the connections blogging, and more recently Twitter & Facebook, have enabled. While the other platforms have taken over much of the day to day activity I still prefer having the content I really value, in terms of wanting to retain, on my ‘own’ platform. 2018 Blogging Highlights

Another year has flown by and it is nearly 2019. Time to look back at 2018 from a bloggy/social media (not just CAD blog) perspective: Best social media related event(s): The best event I attended last year I only got to thanks to social media. Flickr to limit free users to 1000 images

I wondered what change in ownership (earlier this year from Yahoo to SmugMug) might mean for Flickr and today noticed they are rejigging their free/pro user levels. Free users will soon be limited 1,000 photos, a few less than the 25,000 I have added there since 2005… I had Pro membership free for years, via an historic Telecom/Spark NZ Yahoo link, but reverted to free a couple years ago when they parted ways. March 31st means it is blog’iversary time. Fourteen years since that first tentative post! New Zealand is a long way from everywhere and social media eliminates that gap. Another year has flown by and it is nearly 2018. Time to look back at 2017 from a bloggy/social media (not just CAD blog) perspective: Best social media related event(s): First has to be Autodesk University 2017. Great to catch up with lots of friends at the first AU I’ve been to since 2011. In addition to that there were some significant announcements and lots of learning. The forgotten 13th Anniversary?

It’s the middle of April and, thanks to a blog anniversary post from Scott Sheppard, I realised I overlooked my own March 31st blog’iversary! It is now thirteen years since that first tentative post. I must have hit dismiss (not snooze) on the calendar reminder when it appeared a week before! It has been a pretty quiet year blog’wise but now, working back at The Warehouse, I will be able to post a bit more. Another year has flown by and it is 2017 already. Time to look back at 2016 from a bloggy (but not just CAD blog) perspective: Best blog related event(s): I didn’t get to any of the big international CAD/BIM events (AU or RTC) but there were some great local RUGAKL and BIM AK meetings. March 2016 - 12th Anniversary!

The end of March means it is blog’iversary time again. Twelve years since that first tentative post. A new job has kept me busy and has given some interesting new perspectives(see photo). That has been reflected in a relative lack of activity here and almost no participation in the software beta programs which make release related posts easier. I can’t write about software I haven’t seen or used yet!
