AutoCAD 2015, it came from OZ? – AutoCAD Blogger Day

My first impression of AutoCAD 2015: This looks different! A couple of presentations at the AutoCAD Blogger Day gave an insight into how changes in development methods, hardware/operating system capabilities and cloud infrastructure have driven evolution of the AutoCAD “platform” on, and beyond, the desktop. AutoCAD 8.16 — AutoCAD 2012, 2012 LT and WS for Mac

Design 8.16, the day AutoCAD for Mac expanded from a product to a product portfolio. AutoCAD for Mac 2012 has been joined by AutoCAD LT 2012 for Mac and a dedicated AutoCAD WS for Mac desktop application. AutoCAD WS for Android

AutoCAD WS (currently available for Browser/iPhone & iPad) will soon be available for Android. I’ve used AutoCAD WS on my iPhone and been surprised how useable it is. Now Android devices will have the same capability and a tap, tap, tap, saving extra: “One feature unique to Android version of AutoCAD WS is the text annotation tool supports integrated voice commands available on devices running Android 2.2 (Froyo) or above. What’s the Next Autodesk Product For Mobile? Have your say in this Poll

AutoCAD WS was first but the concept of cloud storage and browser/mobile client editing has merit for any platform. The AutoCAD WS blog offers a chance to influence which Autodesk platform comes next. I voted Revit because I see absolutely no need for a Inventor, Buzzsaw (isn’t that a web service anyway?) or Civil 3D to be “cloud mobiled”. Autodesk Butterfly took off, literally, with its formal release as AutoCAD WS and AutoCAD WS Mobile over the past few days.
