A few days ago a post asked Are you human? Prove it! by sending an email. It was a rather unscientific way to see how web stats relate to actual readers who will take action in a 24 hour period.
So what happened in the stats?
- According to the site stats there were: 501 Visits, 468 Absolute Unique Visitors, 652 Page views
- According to FeedBurner the RSS feed generated 44 views (in feed readers and on the web) which resulted in 54 clicks.
What happened in the inbox?
I asked people to reply via email. There were 26 messages and a couple who replied via comment on the blog to make 28 total. Not sure how many I was expecting but it was fun to log and see what appeared in the inbox during the day. Replies came from as near as across the corridor at work (with no non-blog publicity!) and every continent except Antarctica!
And the result?
Because of the numbers I increased the donation/response from nz$0.10 to approx nz$1.00 and contributed us$25 to this loan. The selection was reasonably random as I logged into Kiva and selected an unfunded loan that appeared on the Lend page. The result is your clicks helped fund a cart in Ecuador!
Along with some other funds (ad income and re-loan of repayments) my blog readers contributed $177.18 USD in Kiva loans/donations today. Thanks to all who read the blog and those who took part. Not sure what it proved other than being an interesting way to help someone sell encebollados in Ecuador!
