Do you have a 32 bit Revit 2011 deployment which works fine until a machine where it fails with nothing more than this it the log;

You could waste a lot of time investigating what went wrong but I’d suggest first looking to see if IE6 is still installed. I blame the machine’s lame old HP recovery build (after a hard drive failure), rather than my own ineptitude, but that was the problem. “Windows® Internet Explorer® 7.0 or later” is clearly stated in the Revit 2011 install requirements but AutoCAD 2011 states the same yet had deployed (and ran) fine!
One easy way to quickly check/update an old machine is install the full exe version of Autodesk Design Review 2011. Over 700MB of its 760MB file is system related updates and patches. Trying this highlighted the missing IE – ADR needs IE7+ too – and after installing IE8 the same Revit deployment worked perfectly.
