A recent TypePad Knowledge Base update shared how to create a hidden titles for TypePad's side-bar TypeLists. I use these for those ad's over there I can't mention and it works well. I have a TypeList tip of my own to share, primarily so I can find it again when I forget.
TypeLists are created at the Account level and can be shared across multiple blogs. This is mostly great but creates one problem in my case. I have similar layout for my blogs but some of the TypeLists need to have different content. An example is "The Banner" TypeList which links to the full version of the photograph seen in the Blog Banner.
Creating the first TypeList and assigning it to a blog is simple. The problem comes when TypePad will not let you create a second TypeList with the same name (which displays on the blog). How to have two different "The Banner" TypeLists, one per blog?
I stumbled upon a workaround that allows this. You can't create a TypeList with duplicate name, but you can rename an existing TypeLists to have the same name. Just create the second TypeList as "The Banner1" and assign it to the blog. Then go to the Configure screen and rename it to "The Banner", add a description with the target blog (so you can see which is which), sorted!
TypePad Support: Knowledge Base: Configuring Your TypeList
If you would like to not display a name for your TypeList, you can use HTML to create a hidden title. For example, you can enter
<!--Title-->
in the Title field and replace the "Title" text to distiguish it from your other TypeLists. However, the Title within the code will not display on your blog.
