Sessions Planned;
- 8:00am Guerrilla® Techniques for CAD Consultants
- 10:00am Managing Retail Projects with Autodesk® Buzzsaw®: A Case Study
Last day of AU and although short it was very valuable. Although aimed at independent contractors/business the Guerrilla® Techniques session had some great ideas to use for marketing design services within the company. Jaime Thomas (Midpoint CAD, LLC) is an impressive presenter and bubbling with energy especially considering it was the dreaded early morning, last day session!
Kathy McDermott's, of Limited Brands, presentation on Buzzsaw & Retail was the most relevant I've seen this week for our work. Seeing how a company manages 3,800 stores across multiple brands was great even if we only have 130 or so to deal with. It also gave me the chance to meet a Retail Bis. Analyst from Woolworth Limited (Au) They are our current competition but also 10% part owners (currently) which is rather "interesting". It was great to compare notes on how they are using the Autodesk tools for Retail.
This afternoon it's off to see The Hoover Dam before some shopping and packing for the flight home tomorrow. I saw the dam from the air in 2004 but up close it’s even more impressive. Thanks to Shane Beaman, of Ingram Micro NZ, for the ride and entertainment.
There was no escaping AU though as standing in the queue for the lift I saw a familiar face. It was Architect/Writer Ed Goldberg, the first time I’ve seen him without his trademark hat!
Glad I'm not leaving today as it seems many of the 7,500 here are heading to the airport and flights which are being re-routed/delayed thanks to winter snow chaos at some of the US hubs.
