2005 Blogging Highlights

Seems like the time of year to do a Blog related review of the year so here goes… Best Discovery: ActiveWords, it’s awesome software. If you haven’t tried it, go and get your 60 day free trial right now. I held out for a whole 12 days before purchasing and now would not use a PC without it. Meet a nice Bandit - RSS Bandit Upgrade

I came home from AU to find a bandit waiting. Not a problem as it was only a new version of the RSS Feed Reader – RSS Bandit. It has a cool new logo and updated smiley face Bandit icon. There are some nice new features: I think the best is that items can be marked as read/unread and flagged/un-flagged directly from the newspaper view. This makes reading much easier as you previously had to find the article in the article list. The keyboard shortcut for "Mark All Items As Read" changed to Ctrl+Q from Ctrl+M. This has caused a... Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2005.. Google Earth Feed

This is neat. Watch the 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in Google Earth, with yacht positions and standings updated every ten minutes. Great way to track the race as Kiwi supermaxi’s Alfa Romeo and Konica Minolta battle for line honours. Getting it working If not installed already, download and install Google Earth Open the race feed file: cyca_rshyr_yachtrace.kml Google Earth is a 3D interface to the planet. A week for a day but what about a backup? - TypePad Outage Compensation

TypePad will be crediting all active members with one free week of service to compensate for their recent problems. That’s nice, thank you, but I’d also like to see a way for users to easily backup their entire account content/structure to a local file.
