Google Desktop Search: essential or not?

Dare Obasanjo (RSS Bandit) has an interesting comparison between Google Desktop Search and what to expect from WinFS. Some are saying "Google Desktop is WinFS but available today” however his article details the fundamental difference between text/index searching and what WinFS will offer. Mini Tablet PC for me?

The whole Tablet PC thing has me perplexed and an article from JKOnTheRun has pointed out why. I like the concept of a Tablet PC and they seem to work OK (from what I’ve seen). I have times when pen & paper just frustrate the hell out of me but I think pen on paper is the best interface invented so far. The idea of taking electronic paper into meetings, MindManaging, or sketching concepts is wonderful. So why I don’t I have a Tablet? MindManager Notes Pane improved

One of the many improvements in the MindManager X5 5.2 Upgrade is the new option for the Notes editing window. In previous versions Notes were edited in a vertical docked pane on the right hand side. In the update there is an option to have the Notes pane docked as a horizontal pane on the bottom of the map window. This is done via Tools>Options>Notes or simply by selecting a Topic with a note, then right clicking on an empty portion of the Notes Pane & changing the Window Position option on the fly-out menu.
