One of my favourite features in MindManager is the "Search Files" Tab. The MindManager Application, and free viewer, Search Files feature allows you to enter a word (text string) and search all the maps in a folder/Sub-Folder. Clicking on the result opens the correct map with the focus on the selected topic.
In the example pictured a search for "Cycle" returned several results from three different maps. Clicking on a result opens the map at that topic.
I'm using MindManager for CAD Standards and to the map complexity manageable I have split the Standard into topic based maps:
· Design Stucture & User Profile (applications for role etc)
· Applications
· Drawing Standards
· Project Standards
· Training & support
· Network Structure... etc
These topics are linked back to an Index Map which is the "front page". In this case Search Files acts much like the index or search function in a "Windows Help chm". It means there is no need for me to create an index, or compiled files to distribute, as Users can search the source map files from the viewer. Powerful search + no effort to make - I like it!
