Derek’s last post

I only knew Derek K. Miller from his blog but have been following his feed for years. Christchurch Earthquake – My updates

I’ve pinned this post to stay at the top of my blog and have been jotting EQNZ thoughts into a single post. It also has some links to EQNZ info for readers (and me!). UPDATE 2011-03-31: I spent two nights in Christchurch before & after my cycle trip. Didn't go out of my way to see the quake impacts (seems ghoulish to do that) but just travelling around it's impossible to avoid. Why moderate blog comments? Read this!

Today my TypePad filter showed 1599 spam blog comments automatically blocked. One got through and I found it, word for word, on more than forty other blogs (2 seconds with Bing & Google). It’s stuff like this that makes me have moderation even though it’s not my preference. I’ve split the post but encourage you to read on & see the full extent of this rant. Vox is closing down, free move to TypePad offer

Got this message today from Six Apart. I liked Vox and hoped it’s superior media embedding/library system (books, video etc) would be adopted on TypePad, but no sign of that yet. I suspect one less platform to concentrate on will help TypePad development but recent changes there, like the on-line post editor update, have been rather patchy.
