When I wrote a tribute to LJK Setright - Goodbye to a Genius I thought “Drive On! : A Social History of the Motor Car” would be his last publication.
In fact he was working on an autobiography which was left unfinished. Thankfully the publishers have not attempted to complete it. They have simply published what was written with a short introduction by Michael Bywater and afterword by James May.
For a small book with large print a “Long Lane with Turnings” provides a delighful insight into the life of LJK Setright. It’s not complete but it is satisfying, and totally recommended.
