Mindjet have released a free compact viewer to enable MindManager users to share Maps in the native .mmap map format. Although MindManager Maps can be exported to Office, Image formats and HTML the best way to access them is in map format. It allows all the richness of the map to be experienced with expanding/collapsing branches used to hide/show information as you need it, hyperlinks, extended topic notes and more.
The free Mindjet MindManager Viewer allows the view and print capabilities of the full MindManager package to be available by anyone after the installation of a compact viewer. It functions as a Internet Explorer plug-in or as a stand alone application.
You can install it and try it by going to this site: http://www.mindjet.com/viewer_blog/
Click on the “Map Image” to launch the download and installation process. There is a sample map on the installation page and links to others on the Mindjet Site. I’m going to post some ADT/CAD specific maps, previously seen as images only, to this blog soon.
This release is tagged as a “public beta” but I’ve been experimenting with it for a few weeks and had no problems. Mindjet are interested in getting your feedback. Give it a try, and then please send your comments on the viewer software to email@example.com. Of course, comments on the maps I post should be sent to me
After you access the site: http://www.mindjet.com/viewer_blog/
You may need to accept any I.E. Active x prompts or the ActiveX security gold bar at the top of the browser window to allow the install. If a browser Security Warning dialog box appears, click yes to install the Mindjet MindManager Viewer Browser Plug-in.
If the install doesn’t begin check these "Enable ActiveX" settings in I.E.>Internet Options>Security>Internet (zone):
- Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls: Enable
- Download signed ActiveX control: Enable or Prompt
- Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Enable or Prompt
If you are on a managed machine or behind a corporate firewall you may need IT assistance to install the viewer.
