More than One-Line Bio...

Me:
A kiwi but not a flightless bird or a brown fuzzy skinned green centred fruit (born & bred New Zealander). A “Westie” as originated from & still inhabit the western regions of the Auckland isthmus. Unlike the stereotypical “Westie” I don’t have a V8 car or black T-shirt. Well, I do have the black T-shirt but it’s a McLaren Formula One one not heavy metal…

Work:
I like design & drawing and playing with computers. Rather than work I found an occupation where I can do those things and get paid for it. I'm CAD Manager for The Warehouse Group Ltd which is a general merchandise retail company.

CAD Background:·
· Started using CAD with Autodesk AutoCAD r2.something while doing a Diploma in Design at Unitec New Zealand. After graduating I had little exposure to CAD until AutoCAD r12.
· The first CAD software I actually owned was AutoSketch & did a surprising amount of contract work with that.
· I now have my ownAutoCAD Architecture and Autodesk Viz (till they kill it) and manage both + AutoCAD MEP and Revit Architecture/MEP at work.

Sport:
· I like most forms of Motor Sport and love Formula One and WRC Rally. Not having several hundred million dollars spare means I only watch these but they are nearest I get to a religion.
· A cyclist who likes going fast but not racing. I like day rides but can’t be bothered with “full on carry a tent touring” or competition racing. I have done the occasional organised ride and yes, like to get a good time but that’s as far as it goes. Love what I call lazy touring where you cycle the fun parts, stay in motels/hotels, eat too much and get your luggage carried on the bus!
· Like sailing but don’t do it much and the like the West Coast Surf Beaches near where I live
· Zero interest in Rugby – Rare for a kiwi.
· Zero interest in Cricket – Don’t understand it and have no desire to try.

Transport:
I like Italian cars. It should be a Ferrari (if anyone is offering) but actually is a Fiat Uno 45 heading towards its 220,000’th Km. It’s not quite a the same but you can close your eyes and pretend it’s a Ferrari but even then it’s not a Ferrari. Only advantage is it can be, and is, driven flat out everywhere with little fear of speed cameras…

Religion:
No, is Formula One a religion?

Toys:
Have a weakness for buying toys: Cd’s (does one person need 8 machines capable of playing a cd?), Dvd’s, Videos, Home Theatre, Some things Bose, Most things Sony, GPS, Bicycles & Bicycle bits,

Books:
Love reading but not usually fiction. Love magazines; Auto (Car from the Uk, Driver from NZ), PC/Hifi/Technology, Boating, Design mainly.

Movie & TV Dislikes:
Most “blockbuster” movies; If it’s a “must see” I probably haven’t, Lord of the Rings – sorry Peter I don’t like Tolkien so haven’t seen your films, All those reality shows, All those Idol shows…

Music Likes:

Most (but not all) things Rap, Country & Western, Heavy Metal and Opera.
